Mary sleep progression
This piece is the final part of what became a 3 piece series. What was originally a one-off, in-class drawing became a cyanotype in a different class and then a photoshop collage in a third class. I remember wanting to capture the feeling of peaceful sleep in each stage.
The original Mary drawing (left) and the cyanotype (right). Mary was first drawn in a figure drawing class. The cyanotype was made in a printmaking class. As you can see, similar motifs reappeared in the final photoshop version. Feathers appear in both, the model is laying on a soft bedding, and the sky has a dreamy texture.
